Shabazz Muhammad, SF, UCLA
Why you want him: Pegged as a potential No. 1 overall pick before last season, Muhammad is a legitimate scorer who can put it in the hoop at the NBA level. Muhammad is a very strong and physical player who uses his body to create open shots and get to the basket. He has a smooth jumper and wants the ball in his hands. An alpha dog with the ball, Muhammad isn’t too shabby on the defensive end either.
Why you don’t want him: Muhammad does need to work on his shot selection despite being a talented scorer. He’s not extremely athletic either. However, his character is the biggest issue. Muhammad has been labeled as selfish, and it showed in a game where Larry Drew II didn’t give him the ball for the final shot.
Where he’ll be picked: Top 10. Despite his character issues, Muhammad is a special talent with great scoring ability. He’ll have to learn that he won’t be “the guy” at least in his first couple of years, but as long as he learns from veterans, he has the potential to blossom into a star.
