The NFL released its 2018 regular season schedule Thursday night and there area few things that standout. None more so than the amount of times San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be playing in prime time this season.
The 49ers, who haven’t won more than eight games in five years, are featured in five prime-time games over the course of 2018: Monday, Week 5 at Green Bay, Sunday, Week 6 vs. the LA Rams, Thursday, Week 8 vs. Oakland, Monday, Week 9 vs. the Giants and Sunday, Week 12 at Seattle.
Garoppolo has shown promise of a great quarterback since being acquired from the New England Patriots in the middle of last season. The 26 year old recorded 1,560 passing yards, seven touchdown passes and five interceptions in five games for the Niners. He still hasn’t lost in any game he’s started so far this in his career.
San Francisco has a lot riding on him. The Niners and Garoppolo agreed to a five-year, $137.5 million deal last year even though he’s only started a handful of games. There are a lot of eggs in his basket and he will be showcased and scrutinized in his first full season under center.
If you’re looking for another good quarterback to keep tabs, Garoppolo will be the one — at least that’s what the NFL media will be harping on throughout the year. You can take that one to the bank.
